An extremely rare 17th century Charles II silver mounted table clock by this inventive maker who settled in Florence in the late 17th century as clockmaker to Grand Duke Cosimo III.  The 8 day quarter repeating movement with verge escapement and very early use of inside rack striking in the Tompion style invented by him in circa 1671.  The 6 inch dial with a silver chapter ring, silver cherub head spandrels and fine hands.  The olivewood case with silver corinthian capitals to the ebony columns, silver finial, superb silver fretwork and inlaid with olivewood oysters, floral marquetry and ivory inlaid foliage, the cushion top containing a sliding key drawer.
